June Sketch

Good morning all you crazy scrappers!!! ;)

This month was my turn to create a sketch. I wanted to create something fun and I had the original intention of using this to create a fun summer page:

I really had no idea what i was going to do with this sketch when I drew it. I had 'imagined' doing maybe a big sun with the circle, with some waves, and creating a summer page. Then I toyed around with cutting a big paper circle. BUT when it came down to it, I ended up creating this page:

Instead, I chose to stitch my circle to keep my page feminine and soft. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I hope you give this sketch a try!!! and check back soon for our Guest Designer for the month's take on the sketch and the kit reveal from all the DT!!!!

Challenge: Sketch Time

We're all always looking for inspiration wherever we can, especially as some of our favorite magazines have closed their doors. With that in mind, Simply Obsessed has sponsored a free kit over at 52 Sketches, 52 Weeks to reward finding inspiration on the Internet.

My challenge to you is to try out the SO sponsored sketch here and to link it up at our site and 52 Sketches, 52 Weeks. You'll end up with a fab LO and maybe even a free kit! Good luck!

Time-Saving Tips!! by Ronda Simpson

It seems like this time of the year is one of the busiest for me!!
Here lately, It seems like I have hardly any time, if NO time at all to scrap!
So today, I'm going to share some time-saving tips that have helped me
when I'm pressed for time.

*Sketches
Sketches are such a quick way to "map" out a LO and get it done. You can use them as is, or flip, turn, or simply just let the sketch inspire you. Here are some awesome places to check out for sketches:

* Get it Done in 30 minutes
- Layering three patterned papers of different sizes quickly creates a complete look.
-Pre-printed journaling spots, tags or die cuts are timesavers and alot of times, comes coordinated with patterned papers.
- Use detailed/busy background paper to add interest without adding time.
- Leave chipboard unpainted, for a natural look
- Use a large block of neutral-colored paper, which will leave an open area to add journaling, title and photo.
- Use leftover strips of patterned paper to fill empty spaces.

Hope some of these ideas and tips help you, the next time you are in a hurry to "get-it-done"!!!

May Memberspotlight!

This months spotlight is Anna aka artgirl. I have known her for about 5 years and she is such a sweet person. She loves to participate on the MB and in all the online crops.
Here is more about her:

Do you have any pets? Yep. Her name is Rocket the Wonder Dog. She's part chow & has a spotted blue tongue.
What was the last book you read? I just finished reading Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. It took me 4 months to read it. Yeah, I'm a very slow reader.
Do you like to cook? Yes, cooking is my "me time". I let the kids help me, but for the most part the kitchen is all mine.
What's your favorite food? Roast beef - the really yummy kind that falls apart when you cook it long enough. Mmmmm.
Do you have brothers and sisters? I have 2 sisters & I am in the middle.
Which sport do you like? I've loved baseball all my life. Go Dbacks!
Have you ever lived in another country? I wish I could say yes to this question. Maybe Brazil one day....my husband speaks Portuguese.
Have you ever met a famous person? Lots. Not formally though. I used to work at Hot Dog on a Stick in high school (in the Santa Monica Mall) & we had lots of famous customers, like Charlie Sheen, some of the American Gladiators, soap opera stars, the mom from Home Improvement & all her kids - just to name few). I think it's funny when they wear sunglasses indoors to hide their appearance - as if anyone would not know who they were!
How do you spend your free time? I scrap or sleep. But really, I have 4 kids, so free time doesn't exist. One day....
Who has had the most influence in your life? My grandpa. He was incredibly smart & had a great sense of humor. He taught me to work hard first & then the fun would follow. A lot of the decisions I make are based on things he taught me when I was younger.
Would you like to be famous? Sort of. It is my secret wish to have a speaking roll in a movie. Even if it's a one-liner, I don't care. As long as my part ends up being in the final cut of the movie, I'll be happy. And that could possibly make me famous, which would be cool.
What do you think you will be doing five years from now? Hopefully I'll be back at Arizona State University working on my Fibers BFA (art degree) because all of my kids will be in school!!!
Are you a 'morning' or 'night' person? A little bit of both :)
How many times did you move as a child? I think I figured it out once that I have moved about 17 times in my lifetime.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Prince Edward Island. I grew up loving the Anne of Green Gables series & have always wanted to live there. It looks SO beautiful.
What super-power would you most like to have, and why? I'd love to be able to give my kids a little zap every time they ignore me when I ask them to do something. I think I'd call myself "The Invisible Mom".
Are you a beach, country or city person? I want to live in the country, but have close access to the city. I grew up near the beach in high school & much prefer the country now.

Ronda's May Kit Reveal

Here are my projects using this month's FABULOUS kit, featuring Pink Paislee "Enchanting" papers and embellies. I also used some of the add-ons, which you can purchase through the SO store!
Just so you know, my computer in which I do all of my photo uploads and editing crashed, so I apologize for the poor photo/editing quality! I had to use my DH's computer, and some kind of photo editing software that I've never heard of, so this is what I came up with! LOL!

"Besties"

"Easter '09"

"Birthday Girl"

If you are interested in purchasing the kit, be sure to check out the SO store!! Thanks for looking!!
