Lindsay's Make and Take

I saw these adorable star decorations on Linda Albrecht's blog and couldn't get them out of my mind! You could make them for any occasion and dress them up however you like. Imagine how gorgeous they would look for the holidays with the Amber Road papers and some of the great embellies from the November kit!

The only thing I had to purchase for this project were the paper stars. I found them at Michael's for $1.00 and $1.99. Though this make and take may look lengthy, it actually took me no time at all.

Supplies:
paper shape (I chose stars, but they have TONS of options!)
patterned paper
acrylic paint
ink
glue
spray adhesive (or you could water down 1 tablespoon glue with 1 tablespoon water)
clear glitter (if you like)
sand paper or Basic Grey file (if you choose to have a distressed look)
embellies of your choice
1. Paint the backside and sides of the stars - you can use whatever color you like - I chose black!2. Cut patterned paper to cover the front of your stars. For the flat star, I simply traced the front and cut the pattern out. For the dimensional star, I cut 5 2.5" x 2.5" squares.3. Adhere the patterned paper to the star using a light layer of glue - be sure to spread the glue all over the star to avoid air pockets. Let dry for 5 minutes

4. Trim the excess paper off of the front of the star.

5. Distress the edges (and soften them up a bit) using sand paper or your Basic Grey file. You can also ink the dges and creases at this point if you like. I used black ink on the flat star and brown ink on the dimensional star.

6. Use spray adhesive to attach clear glitter to the front of the star. You can also use a mixture of 1 tablepsoon glue with one tablespoon water - this will take a bit longer to dry.

7. Embellish your creation!

Ronda's Color Challenge

I Just LOVE Fall, and all of the colors that go along with it! The beautiful rich tones and shades of browns, reds, and oranges! Today, my challenge for you, is to create a LO using these three colors.....brown, red, and orange!!

Aren't these colors just beautiful together!! Pictured above is a wooden canvas I made for a friend of mine, and these are her adorable little girls. I used Bo Bunny Kitchen Spice, which also has hints of pink and light blue!
I can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

Anna's Title Prompt Challenge: My Guilty Pleasure

We all have one (or more!). You know. That thing that you love to do even though you know it’s not that great for you (or those you drag into it). Yes, I have a guilty pleasure. Actually I have a few, like bloghopping for hours at a time, drinking yummy chocolate Odwalla juice right in front of my kids & not sharing, reading crafty magazines & almost never making anything….. I’ll stop there. But you get the idea. We all have a guilty pleasure. I want you to share yours with all of us! What tops my list?? Eating a big bowl of ice cream while plopped down in front of the tv with my my sweet hubby by my side just about every night.

Be sure to share your guilty pleasure with all of us & upload your LO into the gallery!!

Jodi's October Reveal

Well I have to say (once again!)... I LOVED THIS KIT! I really couldn't wait to get my hands on it! The papers I have been wanting since the release of them, and I had to do everything in my power to WAIT... but oh my goodness... was it ever worth it!! These papers are even better in real life. Seriously, I had a dozen different photos/LO's I could do because the papers work with almost anything! I LOVE THEM! The hardest part was choosing what I wanted to do! Heather, really outdid herself again!

Here is my first Layout:

There are so many embellishments to go with this kit, I had a hard time not putting everything on, because I loved everything!! I decided to use the crepe paper to turn it into a flower (or dandelion!)... I covered up the tag to use as a journalling space, I cut the burlap, to give the page more texture... and those chipboard shapes... wow... you get SOOOO much on there to use ... I have tons left over! This is a serious good deal!!! I also used a journaling Cosmo card, and used part of it, in my title! I popped up the chipboard shapes too, to make it stand out more from the similar paper!!!

Here is my second layout:

This layout is of my son when he was 3 weeks old! I used the paper-add on shape paper for this layout! I love paper, and can't resist ANY paper add-on... and this one certainly didn't dissappoint! It matched the cosmo cricket papers perfectly, and I love the fun shape of it! It also had journalling lines, which I used too! I used the JB tickets as a border, and the alpha's are awesome!! Don't forget you can also use the negative of these... and make them go even further, as I did with the word "my"!

I decided to do a card reveal this month too:

This card was super easy, and fast to make.... and I LOVE the result!!! I have so much more in store this month for this kit, so stay tuned!!! I can't wait to reveal another LO for the crop starting THIS Thursday.... don't forget to mark it on your calendars!!!

Guest Designer, Lizzo's Kit Reveal

Here is what Guest Designer Lizzo did with the kit!
Don't you just love all the "white space" on this LO?

I love the manly feel to this LO! I think this paper worked fabulous with her picture. Loved her titled and journaling too! LOL

I love how she cut the clouds to make this super cute card!!

The stitching is so great on this LO!!

Great work Stacy!!!

Abbie's October Reveal

Well, like usual Heather has completely outdone herself with an awesome kit again this month. aww this kit is absolutely gorgeous and every little special detail she has included in the kit is oozing "fall". LOVE it! I actually created two more pages with the kit than what I am showing today, but i am going to wait for the crop for those!

Speaking of the crop, I hope you all have marked your calenders for it this weekend!!!

Anyway, lately my two boys have been little partners in crime. I find them doing the strangest things together and I can get a glimpse of the future. When I saw the "birds of a feather" card I thought it would be perfect for these pictures/story.

and for this page I wanted to keep it simple and document the story of the "deal". My son was HUGE PAIN to potty train. So, knowing we were about to buy a swing set anyway, we told him if he became potty trained we would buy him a "park for his backyard". And after a few days, it worked! and now we are all happy:)

and lastly a simple card, but I wanted to use one of those cute little number journal cards. This is what I came up with:

Ronda's October DT Reveal

Hey ladies!! Time for another reveal!! I've been trying all day to get pictures of my projects, BUT....it's been pouring down rain ALL day!! It finally let up enough for me to snap some shots---the sun is definitely not shining, but they turned out better than if I would have taken them inside!
Ok, on to the kit.....If you haven't purchased your kit yet, hurry and get one now!! If you love "earthy" colors, then the October kit featuring Cosmo Cricket "Earth Love" is the kit for you!
In the first LO, I took pictures of my daughter and changed the tones to sepia in Photoshop, and then adjusted the % level to reveal just a hint of color to bring out the "earthy" colors. I cut a circle from the burlap switch (that is included in the kit) and made a flower with it along with the patterned papers with this kit. I must say I LOOOVE the corrugated alphas in this kit! :)
In this LO, I used photos from my daughters Field Day at school. I just created a nature scence using the different papers from the kit!

I couldn't NOT use this cute "chick" paper, so I decided to create a card using the little chickies!!
Thanks for checking out my reveal! I hope you were inspired in some way!
Have a fabulous weekend!!!
~Ronda

October Sketch

Good Morning everyone!!!

Here is the sketch I drew up for October. It is a simple sketch, but it can be interpreted in many ways. Try rotating it it in different directions to fit your needs! Can't wait to see what you do with it! If you get a chance to play with it, attach a link to your page here! I would love to see what you do!

Here is my take. I switched up the pictures a little bit to fit my pictures. And yes, I did a lot of doodling with colored pencil on this one!

And here is a page from our talented GDT this month, Stacy Lizzo (Lizzo)!! THANKS SO much for your gorgeous work this month! I LOVE this page!

Trish's October Reveal!

I cannot say enough good things about this kit! It is filled with awesome pattern papers, embellishments and those fabulous corrugated alphas! (oh those alphas... they are AWESOME!)

The birds inspired me.. I had a unfinished birdhouse in my "alterable items" box that I got on clearance at AC Moore a while back and I figured this was the perfect opportunity to use it! Does anyone know of any birds needing a home? LOL!
I continued along the bird trend to document my morning routine coffee... tweet! tweet!
Then I have been saving this quote and dreaming of something to do with it... I thought this kit would be perfect for it!

If you haven't had a chance to order this month's kit, head over at do it quickly before they are all gone! Happy Creating!

Lindsay's October Kit Reveal!

Heather has spoiled us once again! This October Earth Love Kit is absolutely fabulous! I loved working with this kit and all of the goodies Heather packed inside! The add-ons are fabulous too - and there are still a few left in the store!

This card is based on a sketch from Page Maps Cards. I used one of the cute cards from the Cosmo Earth ove Elements page. I stitched the layers down and added an Earth Love chipboard piece.

The first layout I created shows Avery and her baby doll - she LOVES her baby dolls! I distressed and inked the edges of the patterned papers and created the flowers with layers of paper, the burlap from the kit (cut into cicrles), and the Flair Buttons.

I LOVE the Jillibean Soup Corrugated Alphas! I painted them with white acrylic and used them in my title along with the Cosmo Cricket chipboard. The circle around the journaling is made with the Cosmo Cricket rub-ons - they are too cute!

This page shows Avery at her best - prancing around. Avery does not walk or run - she PRANCES! I had to play on the words of one of the most popular layout titles - Tiny Dancer - and I changed it up to Tiny Prancer. Have I told you how much I love the Jilliben Soup Corrugated Alphas? I painted them pink and put Pop Dots on the back of half.I used almost the entire package of BoBunny rub-ons (an add-on this month) to create the cluster of flowers on the page.

This page was inspired by a layout I saw on the Cosmo Cricket website. When I took these pictures of Matt and Patrick on the mower together, I KNEW I wanted to create a lawn on the page! I painted the Jillibean Alphas green and machine stitched the brown border that frames the page as well as the green and brown "hills".

TFL!!!! Now go order one of these kits if you haven't already! :)

Anna's October Reveal :D

I am in LOVE with this kit! It seriously rocks. Girls, you are gonna want to get your hands on this cutie of a kit before they are all gone. I had lots of fun playing with the Cosmo Cricket papers & chipboard (which you can get as an add-on in the shop). And Heather packed the kit with lots of goodies - crepe paper, rawkin alphas, & super cute rubons. I made sure to grab the cardstock add-on (also in the shop) because the colors are so fabulous (& I love me some cardstock!).

My kids are trying to soak up every last bit of good weather here in AZ. It was still over 100 degrees last week, so they suited up & played with the hose one afternoon in our backyard (which happens to be nothing but a bunch of dirt). They had a blast & were covered from head to toe in mud. I only had a couple of chipboard shapes on this LO to begin with, but decided the more chipboard the merrier, so I added more to make a whole row of fun earthy shapes. And the "wonder" tag from the tag sheet made a great title - all I had to do was add a few words & voila! A super cute title :D

I took a couple of photos of my super adorable niece this summer. She was quite content playing with rocks while everyone was waiting for my newly married bro-in-law & his new bride to make their debut. She is such a cutie & I knew I had to scrap these pics of her with this kit. I wanted to keep this LO simple so the focus could stay on the photos. I just love how masculine & feminine the kit is. I went with a girly theme with this one & love the result. I'm tellin' ya, I just can't get enough of the chipboard shapes. They are so sweet & add just the right amount of cuteness!

Even after 2 LO's I had TONS of kit goodies left over. So I grabbed a metal tin I have in my stash, painted it & covered it with paper from the kit. Yes, the flower on top is all made with papers (& burlap) from the kit! I covered the top with orange trim (which you can also purchase in the shop), layered a couple of tags (from the kit's tag sheet) & a sweet little bird. Full of a friend's favorite candy, this would make a sweet little gift for anyone :D

And in just 10 minutes, I put together this sweet Thank You card. We all have something to be grateful for (friendship, service, family....the list goes on & on) . The playful mushroom paper makes a fun background & I put the "Thank You" tag from the tag sheet right in the middle. Easy Peasy!
I really enjoyed working with this kit & I know you will too!! So grab one from the shop & be sure to upload your work into the gallery for us to oooh & aaah over :D

Our Guest Designer for October is... Stacy Lizzo aka Lizzo on the Message Boards.
I can't wait to see what she has in store for us with the kit.
Look at what a cutie she is! Here is a little bit about Stacy! Enjoy and be sure to leave a comment!

1. How long have you been scrapping? My grandma got me into scrapping about 12 years ago, I have been in and out of it ever since. When I converted an extra room into a scrap room about 8 months ago, I have been finishing albums like crazy!

2. Who are your three favorite manufacturers?Prima, Hambly and MM

3. What three items do you tend to use the most on your pages? That's tough... I like mixing it up each time. I would have to say currently I am using alot of Thickers, PP, found items (stamps, tags, vintage report cards etc)

4. Who are your main scrapping subjects? My BF and my dog, Darwin. I do alot of vacation albums too, so those are mostly of my friends and family.

5. Where do you draw most of your inspiration from?Oh gosh... Everywhere! I'm constantly seeing websites, emails, ads that inspire a LO. Alot of times I'll get a new embellishment that will inspire me. It will dictate the color scheme and I will base my whole sketch around it.

6. If only allowed to scrap with 4 items (ie pp, chipboard, etc) for the rest of your life, what would they be??PP, flowers, bling and glimmer mist

7. What's your favorite food to snack on while scrapping?I generally don't eat while I scrap, just because I get stuff on my fingers which usually ends up on the paper. But I do enjoy a glass of wine (or two...) when I'm sitting down for awhile.

8. Do you have background noise going on while you scrap? If so, what?I definitely need to have music on. I love Pandora! It's a great website where you can create your own custom website with the music you like (which is all over the board for me). I have my laptop hooked up to some speakers and I shut the door and crank it up!

9. What's your favorite thread on SO?"The Obsession". Why? Because I'm obsessed!

10. What's your favorite part about SO??The people for sure. They are so nice and supportive. When I first came across SO, I was on the site for a few minutes when my name popped up in "Confess Here" welcoming me. It was nice to be welcomed so quickly. I've been obsessed ever since!
