Ronda's Make and Take Gift Card Holder

My project today is super quick and easy and a fun way to present your friends or loved ones with gift cards for the holidays, birthdays and other occasions! (Please excuse the poor photo quality.....I cannot seem to find a day of sunshine around here to take photos!! )
So here we go......

Start with a piece of cardstock or patterned paper, mine is 5x12. Trifold your cardstock.

This is the step where I wished I had a tool to notch this out, but I didn't, so I just used my exacto knife to create the little closure for the gift card holder.

Use a piece of patterned paper or another cardstock piece to create a little pocket for your gift card. The size, style, etc. is up to you!

Last, and most fun, finish embellishing the cover of your gift card holder!

I hope you enjoyed my make and take!! Can't wait to see yours!!! :)

Sarah's Title Prompt Challenge

I just went back to work (I am a highschool Biology teacher) after being home with my daughter since she was born last Christmas. I have been feeling sad being away from her and thinking about all the things I am missing. To cheer myself up I wanted to do a layout about things that make me happy. Of course baby Frances is top on that list so I decided to scrap this picture. My husband was holding her and I was making faces trying to make her laugh all while trying to take her picture. I smile everytime I see this picture so I thought it was a perfect fit for a layout about happiness.

My challenge for you this month is to forget about all the stressors in your life (at least for a little while) and think about something that makes you happy. The title prompt for your layout is "Happiness is...".

I can't wait to see what makes you happy. Upload your layouts to the Simply Obsessed gallery and spread some cheer. Also this LO was made with the super awesome Jenni Bowlin/ Graphic 45 June kit which is still available in the Simply Obsessed store. You can go here to check it out.

Lindsay's Photography Challenge!

I am STILL scrapping with the fabulous September Bo Bunny kit that Heather has created for all of us! The gorgeous aquas, oranges, and browns reind me of a late summer beach trip when everyone is tanned and bathing suit colors shine from the warmth of kids' skin.

I had this great picture of my DD Avery singing to herself and playing in the sand. I sat and watched for about 5 minutes and captured only a few photos - I couldn't take my eyes off of her pudgy little arms that are slowly becoming slender, the way her little pink lips move when she sings, and her cute sun-kissed curls blowing in the wind. When I saw the picture I took, I was unhappy with it . . .

. . . so I simply cropped it!

When I began creating a page with the pictures, I realized that I DID want to include the first picture because her sininging and the motion of the car are what drew me to watch her in the first place. My challenge to you is to create a page with two photos - the original and the cropped version.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

September Guest Designer - Naureen aka flcropper!

Wow! I am so impressed with the work that Naureen does! She is for sure one very talented lady. So let's learn a little bit more about her! Here are some questions she answered:

Naureen O'Neale aka "flcropper"

1.How long have you been scrapping? I have been scrapbooking for most of my life because my mom was vey good about documenting our life with picture and words. I really because obsessed with scrapbooking about 7 years ago when I was planning my wedding and after my son was born.

2. Who are your three favorite manufacturers? Scenic Route, Basic Grey and My Minds Eye

3. What three items do you tend to use the most on your pages? I love brads, ribbon and buttons.

4. Who are your main scrapping subjects? My main scrapbook subject is my son Jaden, followed by my niece and nephew.

5. Where do you draw most of your inspiration from? I draw most of my inspiration from magazines and sketches. I love looking at sketches and trying to figure out how to rotate them or flip them over to make them my own.

6. If only allowed to scrap with 4 items (ie pp, chipboard, etc) for the rest of your life, what would they be?? The four items I would choose are Pattern Paper, Buttons, Brads and Thickers.

7. What's your favorite food to snack on while scrapping? Well normally I don’t snack while I scrapbook because I am afraid to make a mess. However, if I do it’s usually granola, fruits, nuts or something that’s not harmful when spilled! LOL!

8. DO you have background noise going on while you scrap? If so, what? Yes, I have to have background noise. Usually when I am in my scrapbook room the TV is on, but turned down low.

9. What's your favorite thread on SO? My favorite thread on SO is the scuttlebutt, I love to hear about what’s going on in everyone’s daily lives. Makes me feel like I am not the “only one” some days.

10. What's your favorite part about SO?? Believe it or not I was attracted to the colors of the website, when I open the site it makes me feel happy and cheerful. Then when I started to get to know everyone there was a real warm and friendly atmosphere.

Please stayed tuned for her work with the September kit!!!!

Fall in Love with this Kit!!!

Hello Obsessed Scrappers!
I love love love this month's kit! I looked at it and it screamed FALL! and I love fall. It is my favorite season - so I was excited to scrap with this kit!

Now, I admit, I typically procrastinate with my projects, but this time I didn't... I got straight to work! (but tragedy has befallen me.. I will get to that later!) - I immediately cut 60 squares and set to work on the project below:

Then I set to work creating two fabulous layouts (that is how much goodness is in this kit! - I had enough for 60 3.5x3.5 squares with only the addition of 2 sheets of cardstock and 2 layouts!)Unfortunately, I did procrastinate on finishing one of the layouts so I finished it last night and set it out to dry... then when I got home I went to take its beautiful picture and my camera is reading some sort of error!!! (I am not going to freak out until I can read up on what it might be)... so no photo yet; but I did manage to get the one below!

Go buy the kit if you haven't already.. it is VERY pretty and fun to work with and will be perfect or your fall photos past or to come in the future... and watch for my illusive 2nd layout! LOL!

xoxo

Jodi's September Reveal

When I first opened my kit, I thought it screamed FALL! I LOVED the warm colors, and couldn't wait to dig up my fall photos from last year! Heather really out did herself this time with this kit! Its jammed packed full of embellishments!

For my first layout, I picked my two leaf photos of my daughter to scrap! I LOVE making trees, so i decided to make BIG tree on one side of the paper! I freehanded the tree, and added the those AWESOME rubon's on the trunk of the tree to give it more texture and flair! The bottom of the page I added the material to look like weathered grass and I cut out the stamped image! On the tree I punched out MANY leaves and added the cosmo cricket chipboard and gems! I love how this turned out!

Next I was inspired by the blue in the page and dug up an old photo of my sisters and I! I cut out some flowers and layered them also on one side of the photo. I took the strings off the journaling tags and inked them and tied little bows at the bottom too! I cut out the stamped image (love this one... it actually was my inspiration in finding a photo for this page!) Overall I love how versatile this kit was going from being able to do a totally "fall color" page to a cool blue page! Just awesome!

Finally I have been addicted to making cards! I said I was only going to make one... and I ended up making three! The first one I made from my husband (Just like Lindsay!)... It is our 6th anniversary on September 13th so I made a card! I used the material to make a heart, cut out some leafs, and layered it with chipboard. So here it is:

The next one I wanted to make two fall cards and I have been addicted to coloring in stamps, so the next two are cards with the kits and two of my "fallish" stamps

Happy Fall everyone! I hope you will have just as much fun with the kit as I did! I can't wait to see what you do with the kit!

Sarah's September DT Reveal

Hello and Happy Labor Day for those of you that are celebrating today!

I just loved the SO kit this month. I always think this is the best kit, but then love the next kit even more. Heather just does such a great job of putting them together. I created these two LO's and card and still have tons more product left over.

On this layout I added some brown cardstock, ribbon and chipboard stickers from stash. The buttons were leftover from the Lily Bee kit. I converted from my photo from color to black and white (because the colors were really bright) and blurred out the background in photoshop. I also added the grunge frame (downloaded from the Jessica Sprague website) around the photo to look like I painted the edges of the photo. Then I added some of the Bo Bunny rubons around the page. I love those rubons! I usually don't like rubons because I can never apply them right. I always get a partial image. These rubbed off so easily though and no messed up rubons!

Everything on this layout is from the kit except the little MM letter stickers. I cut my heart from the fabric swatch included in the kit. Then I doodled and journaled with a white pen.

I used the scraps from LO's to create this card. I added some ribbon and white chipboard stickers from stash.

Thanks for looking!

Naureen's Sketch LO!

All of you know by now how fabulous our community is here at Simply Obsessed. We've got such a great pool of talent & Naureen's work is no exception. Naureen, aka "flcropper" has added such creative work to our gallery. She was asked to make a layout based on Jodi's September sketch (see Jodi's post below) and came up with this super cutie of a layout. Thanks for sharing Naureen!!

Don't forget to make your own LO based on Jodi's sketch & post it in the gallery for us all to drool over!!

Lindsay's September Reveal!

Heather has done it again! I absolutely LOVED playing with this Bo Bunny Kit! I still have somuch product left and I am scrapping away! Blue and red is a favorite color combo of mine so this kit was divine to work with!

My oldest son, Patrick, had blue, orange, and brown swimtrunks this summer so I HAD to use some pictures of him at the beach with these patterned papers! I used the Making Memories Great Escape die cut for this layout. I also used the Bo Bunny Double Dot paper as my base - this was in the add-on and I just adore it! I distressed and inked the Bo Bunny papers. I used some patterned paper to make a journal tag and stitched around one of the Cosmo Cricket chip stickers (BTW, I LOVE these stickers!)
I also created a card for my sweet DH - his birthday is in a few weeks! Again, I distressed and inked the edges of the patterned papers for a softer look. I rounded the corners of my cardstock base and the patterned paper that was against it for a cohesive look. The sentiment says it all - another Cosmo chp sticker!
This last layout is based on a sketch by Beck Fleck at PageMaps. I loved this photo the moment I captured it and knew Becky's sketch with a 5x7 and the Bo Bunny Gypsy papers would be perfect to scrap it! Another piece of Bo Bunny Double Dot served as the base and I cut the Gygpsy circular die cut in half and used it as my anchor. I created paper pleats down the left side of the picture and used the Bo Bunny rub-ons throughout the page. I just loved the Dodlebug jewels and couldn't stop using them!

Thanks so much for looking at my creations! You can see more details on the layouts on my blog: http://lindsaysthreelittleblessings.blogspot.com/ I have another page created with this fabulous kit to share with you next week for my photography challenge - I hope you'll join me!

Jodi's September Sketch Challenge

Its hard to believe its September! September is always such a busy month, and a great way to get the most out of your time is to use a sketch. This month I had so much fun creating a sketch for Simply Obsessed! So here it is:

Now I know the layout I decided to create was totally out of season, but I have been meaning to scrap these pictures for a long time! So here is what I came up with:

I made the dandelion from tissue paper and added glitter and flower soft. The vine is made out of a paper bag! I painted it and distress it, modged podged it, then twisted it up to look like a stem! You can also use this technique to make a fall branch or tree! So much fun! Can't wait to see you play around with the sketch! Have fun!
